  • My name is Shavneel Kumar. I’m originally from an interior place in Tavua settlement, province of Ba, Vitilevu, Fiji Island. After completing my Bachelor’s degree, I decided to pursue further studies. While waiting for a scholarship, I worked part-time job as entrepreneur, running a fast food restaurant for 2 years. In the year 2022, I was awarded an ACIAR scholarship and now I’m following up with my study career and devoting more time to my research thesis.

    Professional Forest Entomologists contribute to the betterment of humankind; by detecting the role of insects in spreading various diseases, and discovering ways of protecting food, fiber crops, shelter and livelihood.

Shavneel Kumar is a 2022 PASS-CR Scholar completing his Masters of Science in Forestry / Agroforestry at Fiji National University. His research investigates the diversity, biomass and abundance of termites in different forest and tree based systems of Fiji.
