I was born and raised in Faleasiu, Samoa. I have always been passionate about agriculture, and that's what inspired me to pursue my Master's degree in research at the University of the South Pacific, Samoa. My research is focused on intercropping systems in taro production, with a particular emphasis on weed management, which is a significant challenge faced by Samoan farmers.
I believe that weed management is essential for ensuring Samoa's agricultural sustainability, and my goal is to help and empower Samoan farmers to adopt efficient and sustainable farming practices. I am very grateful to the ACIAR-PASS CR programme for selecting me as one of the recipients in 2024, which has also given me the opportunity to pursue this study and make a positive impact on Samoa's agricultural environment.
My goal is to identify and recommend the most effective intercropping systems that can help farmers reduce their reliance on harmful chemicals and increase their crop yield. I believe that this research will not only benefit Samoan farmers but also contribute to the global efforts towards sustainable agriculture.
